A Blooming Success!

A successful trip and a generous donation helped the Lackawanna & Wyoming Valley Railway Historical Society’s most recent excursion become one that will have a positive impact for a long time to come when the locomotives benefiting from the fundraising return to operation.

We would like to thank all of our supporters for coming out for the Ride The Bloom excursion on October 5th, 2019. Proceeds from this successful excursion went to support Project3713 – the restoration of steam locomotive Boston & Maine #3713 – and the Ontario & Western Railway Historical Society, Inc’s Project 105 – the full rehabilitation of historic NYO&W General Electric 44-ton diesel locomotive #105. Both of these efforts are taking place at the Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, PA (a city where #105 ran in regular service)

A very special thank you goes to Jeff Pontius and Penn Valley Railroad, LLC for their generous donation to Project3713. Penn Valley’s beautifully restored passenger equipment provided our riders with a comfortable trip aboard vintage cars.
