125th Anniversary Of Scranton’s First Electric Trolley Of 1886

November 30th 2011 commemorated the 125th anniversary of Scranton’s first trolley of 1886. We’ll view Scranton Transit’s last nine trolley lines still in operation after World War II and the Lackawanna & Wyoming Valley Railroad, better known as the “Laurel Line” from 8mm movie files of the Edward S. Miller collection.

City lines covered: Providence – Green Ridge Peoples – Green Ridge Suburban (original 1886 route) – Dunmore Suburban – Laurel Hill – Petersburg – Nay Aug Park – South Side and Nativity. Laurel Line footage covers the main line from Scranton to Wilkes Barre and the Minooka Branch from Virginia to the Minooka Industrial Park. Color and Black & White footage.
